Hiking with the Animal Shelter

This morning, the kids and I had the great pleasure of being animal shelter volunteers.  If you haven't done this yet, then you must add it to your to-do list.

Every Wednesday at 9:30am, the animal shelter takes a van full of dogs to Adams Gulch and waits for volunteers to take the well behaved dogs for a well deserved hike.  The shelter provides the leashes, dog treats, poop bags and anything else you may need.  It's very organized!

When my kids saw the black puppy, they were really  hoping that he would be paired up with us.  Sure enough, their wish came true.  We were so lucky to be able to take 8 week old Mack on a hike with us.  Oh boy! I don't know who was having more fun, me, the kids or Mack!  We walked with him, played with him and tried to teach him to sit.  The kids have been asking for a puppy and this helped them get a quick fix.  If we didn't already have two dogs waiting for us at home, Mack would have been coming home with us.

To be able to spend time outdoors with my kids, hike with a puppy at beautiful Adams Gulch, and teach my kids about volunteering was an absolute priceless way to spend our morning.
