Warrior Camp--a must do for kids

Where were all these camps when I was growing up? From the YMCA's summer camp in Ketchum to the Mountain School Camp in Bellevue to Warrior Camp in Hailey, our  local kids (and tourist kids) are sure lucky to have amazing options during the summer.

My son just recently experienced Warrior Camp and is still beaming about all that he did----Soo Bak Do (a form of Martial Arts), Archery, and Art.  The camp is from 6 year olds and up and ran Monday-Thursday from 1:00pm-5:00pm.  Everyday he was bouncing off the walls until I told him it was time to go to camp.  When it was time to pick him up, he wanted to know when he got to go back. All good signs for my young lad.

What impressed me the most, besides the fact that my son helped make a beautiful painting on canvas or that he can now skillfully shoot a bow and arrow, was the life skills that were covered.  Discipline, respect and confidence (for others, yourself and nature) were all stressed and practiced during the week.  One of the afternoons, I arrived early and was able to sit in on the last 10 minutes.  Master Oliver was going over the concepts of bullying and what to do if you are being bullied.  I made sure to store that valuable lesson in my head in case I ever have to use them in the future with my children.

If you have any active boys or girls at home, you must have them experience this camp. The bad news? It's only offered for two separate weeks during the summer, but definitely put it on your calendar for next summer.  For more information about Warrior Camp, click HERE
