The Hope Garden provided all the tools (even fun gloves) and we just had to provide the manual labor. I enjoyed talking to the kids about all the different veggies and flowers that were growing. It was a fun family event! As we were leaving, the kids wanted to know when we could go back.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Hope Garden, there are more future opportunities. This comes from Hallie, the Garden and Education Manager:
The next garden work party is on Wednesday, July 14th from 2:30pm-6pm.
In addition, I am looking for help with several projects that can be completed in one's own time the needs are listed below.
- shed remodel (just some simple shelving and pegs to organize the contents)
- shed staining (it needs a little treatment on the exterior to protect it from weather)
- compost bins (at least 1 to start so we can conceal the project and minimize any potential odor- we hope to have 3 in the long run... very simple design)
- patio/hardscape installation (we have a total of 3 small spaces- but would like to focus on the front entry for now- ask me for details)
